The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed today that Russia responded to US President Joe Biden's abuse of Russian President Vladimir Putin with an "unprecedented decision."
Sputnik quoted the ministry’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, as saying today on the “Russia 1” channel that the invitation of the Russian ambassador in Washington to Moscow for consultations to assess the prospects for evaluating relations with the United States is an unprecedented event in the history of bilateral relations.
In response to a question about whether this step could be considered the first summoning of an ambassador for consultations, Zakharova said, "I do not remember an event like this. It is a call for consultation. We must be less emotional and all that was mentioned in the Foreign Ministry statement is quite clear."
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced earlier today that the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, was summoned to Moscow to consult and assess the prospects for relations with Washington.
