The situation at the traffic lights is tricky.

Now there is the chance to significantly improve the situation at the Altwirt in Münsing.

School children should benefit.

Münsing - Surprisingly, the community gets the opportunity to improve the situation at the main intersection in the village.

"We should seize the opportunity", thinks Mayor Michael Grasl (Free Voters).

The building committee agreed with this opinion on Tuesday.

Road renewal and a new set of traffic lights should defuse the situation

The State Road Construction Office in Weilheim offers the Münsing community to finally tackle the intersection of Hauptstrasse / Weipertshauser Strasse and Am Kirchberg / Holzhauser Strasse.

The time is right, they say.

On the one hand, the sidewalk near the intersection in front of the planned community center has to be redone anyway.

On the other hand, the state building authority wants to renovate the state road towards Holzhausen this year and next year.

Roads and a new set of traffic lights would be part of Weilheim, the community would have to finance the sidewalks.

The Traudisch company, which among other things planned the Roma intersection in Wolfratshausen, created a design for the Münsingen intersection.

The plan is to move the sidewalk in front of the future community center to the south and widen it.

That would mean that Weipertshauser Strasse would have to be narrowed to around four meters in this area.

It could only be traveled in one direction.

According to engineer Peter Hacker, who advises the community, this would have no impact on traffic.

The community would also optimize the three sidewalks on the corner at the Altwirt (if the property owner agrees), opposite and below the church, which would cost around 50,000 euros more.

The total would then be around 200,000 euros, of which the state building authority would take over 57,000 euros.

Whispered asphalt for the residents, wider sidewalks for the schoolchildren

The local councils voted unanimously in the building committee on Tuesday to renew all four sidewalks.

"We're doing something useful for our schoolchildren," said Georg Sebald (Ammerlander List).

Regina Reithardt (Münsing voter group) added that the wider pedestrian areas are also handicapped accessible.

Christine Mair (Greens) and Thomas Schurz (CSU) also want to invest more for the well-being and safety of pedestrians.

Schurz also suggested tarring the intersection with whispered asphalt on the occasion - which is planned.

No matter from which side you approach it, it is always red "

Vicco von Bülow, alias Loriot, on the Altwirt traffic light

The traffic light built in 1990 at the intersection was once mocked by Münsing's elected Ammerlander and honorary citizen, Vicco von Bülow alias Loriot: "No matter from which side you approach it, it is always red." That should change through intelligent switching .

In contrast to now, the lighting system will probably be in operation day and night.

People with visual impairments should also be thought of at the traffic lights and the sidewalks.

For the time being, the community intends to stick to the connecting path between the old and the new parsonage, even if it will no longer be necessary after the redesign of the intersection.
