President Reuben Rivlin has been invited to speak at the US Congress, so he is considering visiting the United States before the end of his term in July.

A political source said Rivlin had received an invitation from the House of Representatives and the Senate from both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.

According to the source, the decision whether to travel to the United States or not will depend on the limitations of the corona and whether they allow the event to take place.

Consider traveling to Congress.

In his talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin, the president said that Israel would not intervene or interfere with the Palestinian parliamentary elections if they did take place on May 22, political sources said in a press briefing.

"We are in a democracy and have signed the Oslo Accords. We will not disturb the Palestinians despite President Abu Mazen's claims, but at the same time we - everyone in his sector expresses his opinion - that the Palestinians certainly take a big risk in democratic elections. "A terrorist organization, such as Hamas, can take over Palestinian institutions," said a diplomat.

"We say this as a comment, but unequivocally say we are not intervening - as we did not intervene in the previous election."

Macron: France is very concerned about the Iranian nuclear issue

In addition, today Rivlin also met with French President Emanuel Macron.

At a joint press conference, Macron said that "France is very concerned about the Iranian nuclear issue," adding that "Iran must stop violating the nuclear agreement."

"This is about the security of the entire region. Iran must act responsibly," Macron stressed.

"France wants to resume negotiations to resolve the crisis. We need to return to full control of nuclear facilities and address the Iranian missile threat."

The French president addressed other issues in the Middle East.

Regarding the Avraham agreements, Makron said that the normalization between Israel and the Arab states contributes to stability in the region, and called for continuing to promote a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Regarding the political situation in Lebanon, Makron said that its collapse should be "prevented" and that a government should be formed in Beirut to carry out reforms.
