There is a new ADFC bike test.

15 municipalities in the district made it into the evaluation.

The result: There is a lot of room for improvement in the district.

District

- Parked too tightly, or not expanded at all: The cycling infrastructure in the district makes life difficult for cyclists.

This is the conclusion of the latest test by the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC).

In autumn 2020, all cyclists were asked to rate the cycling friendliness of their city or municipality in the ninth cycle climate test.

In addition to the 27 standard questions on the assessment of cycling conditions, five additional questions on the subject of "Corona & Cycling" were asked.

Around 230,000 people nationwide took part in the test.

Around 1500 people cast their votes in the Munich district.

They come from 15 parishes.

In 2018 there were only six municipalities with around 500 votes.

This shows that the subject of cycling is also becoming more explosive in the region around the state capital, the association said.

“Long distances have long been easy to cope with by e-bike, and many more people could use the bike to commute to work.” The drawback: The bike infrastructure is nowhere as good as cyclists would like.

The bicycle climate test makes this clear again.

The problems are the same everywhere: “Parked, too narrow or missing bike lanes make life difficult for cyclists.

The results of the cycling climate test must now give the communities a boost and an incentive to finally create better cycling conditions, ”said Hartmut Schüler, district representative of the ADFC Munich.

For large projects such as cycle superhighways, the Free State must also get involved so that implementation can proceed more quickly, says Schüler.

"People only switch to bicycles when the cycling infrastructure is well developed."

The municipality of Oberhaching does best in the district, Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn the worst.

It is still hacking at these locations.

Oberhaching

Oberhaching comes in 11th place nationwide among municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants with an overall grade of 2.77. 418 municipalities are in the rating.

78 percent of the Oberhachingen participants found cycling more fun than stress, according to the results of the test.

Oberhaching scores with the accessibility of the town center and the possibility of cycling quickly.

The range of rental bikes installed in the meantime (grade 1.7) and the open one-way streets (grade 2.8) are particularly rewarded.

Criticized were the sparse control of parking offenders on cycle paths (rating 4) and the width of the cycle paths (rating 3.4).

Cleaning well

Putzbrunn gets an overall grade of 3.36.

The accessibility of the town center and the rather rare bicycle thefts are rated best here.

On the negative side, there are insufficient opportunities to take bicycles with you in the MVV and sparse control of parking offenders on cycle paths.

But the biggest annoyance is the lack of rental bikes.

Ismaning

Cyclists in Ismaning are particularly bothered by the insufficient width of the cycle paths, according to the result.

The people of Ismaning gave it an overall grade of 3.37.

In return, the people of Ismaning can easily reach the town center by bike (grade 2.2).

Aying

The Ayinger participants rate low-stress cycling as the best, the community receives an overall rating of 3.39.

The rather rare conflicts with pedestrians are also on the positive side.

Main criticisms: the lack of control of parking on bike paths.

Garching

Garching (overall rating 3.43) is the only municipality in the district that does worse than in 2018. The accessibility of the town center and speedy cycling are rated the best.

Cyclists would feel uncomfortable driving on cycle paths and cycle lanes.

Hartmut Schüler explains: “The problems after the conversion of the B471 also played a role in these points of criticism, as the comments show.

There, cyclists were overtaken by motorists, although the prescribed safety distance for the width of the street could not be observed ”.

Kirchheim

Kirchheim receives an overall grade of 3.45.

The participants rated the signposting for cyclists the best (grade 2.4).

The advertising for cycling is also well received.

Neubiberg

According to the participants, Neubiberg (overall grade 3.52) scores with its easy accessibility to the city center and its ability to cycle quickly.

The range of public bicycles is also well received.

Unterschleissheim

In Unterschleißheim (overall grade 3.54) around three quarters of all participants are annoyed - as in 2018 - about the inadequate control of parking offenders on cycle paths and the insufficient width of cycle paths, according to the ADFC.

The meanwhile expanded range of rental bikes received the highest rating.

Unterhaching

In Unterhaching (overall grade 3.56) the fact that all age groups are out and about by bike was praised the most.

The municipality received the worst marks for the width of the cycle paths, according to the test result.

Oberschleissheim

Oberschleißheim received an overall grade of 3.59 from the participants.

The cyclists think it is good that they can easily reach the center.

On the other hand, negative: poorly coordinated traffic light switching (grade 4.4).

hair

Feldkirchen

In Feldkirchen (overall rating 3.69), participants rated the open one-way streets in the opposite direction as well as cycling with all age groups as positive.

There is still a lot of room for improvement in the promotion of bicycles (grade 4.7) and advertising for cycling (grade 4.6), the bicycle club announced.

Ottobrunn

Ottobrunn (overall grade 3.7) is one of the Bavarian municipalities on the rise.

Last year, it was the bottom of the league in the district, but this time Ottobrunn was able to improve slightly on almost all questions, judges the ADFC.

Many cyclists are therefore happy about the easy accessibility of the city center, but criticize the lack of bicycle funding and the poor management of bicycle traffic at construction sites.

Unterfoehring

"The rich community of Unterföhring (overall rating 3.75) is still not very bicycle-friendly," says the report by the Radl-Freunde.

Main criticism of the citizens: the dangerous driving in mixed traffic with cars.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

In the community of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn (overall grade 3.82) there is still room for improvement, according to the ADFC.

The municipality does the worst in the district.

Nationwide, it ranks 189th. Cyclists complain that bike lanes are only rarely checked for parked cars, and that lanes are too narrow.
