Sweida-Sana
Various handicrafts presented by the women of the elderly section of the Social Welfare Home, the Orphan House in Sweida, as part of an exhibition of handicrafts on the occasion of Mother's Day, titled (Khaza and Khaitan).
The works submitted by 17 women amounted to about a hundred works, and varied between embroidery, antiques, accessories, crochet, pillow making and recycled fabrics.
During his speech to the SANA reporter, the administrative director of the Social Welfare House (Orphan House), Nawras Abu Fakhr, mentioned that the exhibition comes to support elderly women and prove their presence and ability to work regardless of age, indicating that his idea was launched in cooperation with the Nour Relief Association, which trained elderly women by specialists in this field .
The supervisor of the accessories industry in (Orphan House) in the elderly section, Hayam Al-Saad, indicated that the raw materials were brought and ideas were presented to the older women after their training, as there was a response from them that resulted in well-manufactured products.
The sewing and embroidery trainer, Heba Radwan from the Nour Association for Relief and Development, explained that the elderly women were trained in a way that was likable to them and dealt with them as a team and one family in order to produce the most beautiful works.
According to the guest at the house, Safaa Khidr, participating in the work of beading, embroidery and designing tissue boxes, her participation is an opportunity for her to prove herself, especially as she sees with one eye.
