It will soon be too tight at the elementary schools - one is to be built from scratch

The city will have a primary school problem from 2031.

Even without building on the Kreuzlinger Feld and after the church school has been rebuilt, there will be capacity problems.

If something were to be built at Kreuzlinger Feld and a school was built, the problem would be solved.

Germering

- One and a half years ago, the geographer and city planner Volker Salm demonstrated with his demographic study how Germering is developing.

Now he has revised the results of the study specifically for the primary school sector and presented the results to the city council.

He comes to the conclusion: Although the city grew somewhat weaker in 2018 and 2019, the population increase in 2020 of around 500 was very high despite Corona.

But because the number of births has not decreased in the slow-growing years, Salm states: Even without the designation of further building areas, i.e. without any significant further immigration, the city will have a primary school problem by 2031 at the latest.

Because, according to Salm: "The children are already here."

The individual districts

Divided into the individual districts shows: The church school requires in the so-called basic variant - no building land designation, i.e. above all no development of the Kreuzlinger Feld - from 2024 20 classrooms instead of the current 17 Re 24. The need could be covered with the new building plans and a change in the district.

Because then a new elementary school would be available at Kreuzlinger Feld.

The number of elementary school students in Kerschenstein remains stable without Kreuzlinger Feld.

With development, it would require twelve classes from 2026 instead of eight.

However, this could easily be managed with the new school building on Kreuzlinger Feld and the current expansion of the Kerschensteiner school.

It looks the most difficult at the Kleinfeldschule.

It would also have to be expanded in the basic version because the number of students in the district is increasing sharply.

However, it is difficult to imagine an extension there.

If the city should designate building land - in addition to the Kreuzlinger Feld, there are three smaller areas to be found - the bottleneck could only be overcome with a change of district - some of the students would then have to go to the elementary school at Kreuzlinger Feld.

The Theresen elementary school is least affected by the development problems - it has already been expanded and can fully cover the needs.

The situation is similar for the middle schools - both the Wittelsbach and Kerschenstein schools are currently being expanded.

Sepp Dürr (Greens) wanted to know whether there was also a so-called Corona variant.

In Munich there is already talk of a decline in immigration.

There was little that could be said about that, answered Salm.

The comparison with Munich limps: The state capital is feeling the lower international influx above all.

But that seems to be changing again.

In 2020 there was no sign of any of this in Germering, according to Salm.

Elementary school on Kirchenstrasse is being rebuilt

The elementary school on Kirchenstrasse is in urgent need of renovation.

The individual parts of the building were built from 1950, the neighboring Spatzennest children's house even dates back to 1920. However, a feasibility study has now shown that a general renovation is not economically viable.

The deputy building authority manager Gabriele Mühl presented the solution to the problem with a new building in several steps to the city council.

The old simple gym on Hörwegstrasse will first be demolished so that school operations can continue and new things can still be created.

In this southern area of the school grounds, where the sports field is also located, two connected new buildings will be built from mid-2022.

They should be ready in 2024.

A second construction phase from 2024 provides for the renovation of the wing on Augsburger Straße.

This should be increased and then include all of the school's care facilities.

The Spatzennest kindergarten will also be housed here - its current house will then be demolished.

From mid-2025, the main wing of the school is to be demolished next to the sparrow's nest.

In the new, third school building, there are mainly specialist rooms and lunchtime supervision.

A triple gymnasium and a hard court are also planned for this construction phase.

The demolition of the current double gym and the construction of a large hard court will end the construction work by around 2028.

The total cost

The total costs are estimated at around 40 million euros.

The first smaller sums are due now. De city council has decided on the necessary Europe-wide tender, which costs around 60,000 euros.

An inventory study for around 50,000 euros was also initiated.

It is intended to protect against unpleasant surprises when the project is canceled.

Finally, the committee approved the introduction of a land-use plan for the school area - so far there is no development plan here.

The costs for this are around 30,000 euros.

The city councils were consistently impressed with the proposed solution.

This has the great advantage that you can proceed in sections and if necessary, said Sepp Dürr (Greens).

If necessary, you can take your time: “That is important in our situation.” According to the building authority representative Heike Thorwächter, the decision to start the second phase of construction does not have to be made until the first is finished.

City architect Jürgen Thum once again made it clear that the city would have a problem with the construction of the new church school from 2031 if there was no construction at Kreuzlinger Feld: "Then we would need another location for a school." Daniel Liebetruth (SPD ) so: “We can't avoid the option with a new school.” That would also minimize the costs for container solutions.

Herbert Sedlmeier (CSU) warned against the assessment that you could take your time with the decision: “We don't know whether the investor for the Kreuzlinger Feld is still there.” The city itself no longer has any land: “Then sit we will be there in 2032 and have no location. "
