The first diplomatic crisis of the Biden Administration will not have been with China, but with Russia.
The tone quickly rose between Washington and Moscow in the last 48 hours after Joe Biden called Vladimir Putin a
"killer"
, and warned that he "
will pay the price
" for his interference in the US election last November.
But these undiplomatic comments by the American president, made in an interview with ABC television channel and broadcast on Wednesday, were neither accidental nor gratuitous provocation.
On Tuesday, a report from the US National Intelligence Directorate was made public, concluding "
with certainty
" that Russia had again attempted to interfere with the 2020 US presidential election by undermining Joe Biden's campaign, and fueled afterwards the poll the electoral fraud theses supported by Donald Trump.
