The CSU member of the Bundestag Alexander Radwan wrote a letter to four ministers.

He warns of the “Mallorca boom” and calls for mandatory tests for those returning to travel.

District

- Alexander Radwan is alarmed.

In view of the opening of the holiday island of Mallorca at Easter, the CSU member of the Bundestag from Rottach-Egern fears that the corona infection numbers will skyrocket after the holidays.

He has therefore written to the ministers Heiko Maas (outside), Horst Seehofer (inside), Jens Spahn (health) and Helge Braun (chancellery).

"The fact that Mallorca opens at Easter made me shake my head," says Radwan.

"I'm worried that the mistakes from last year will repeat themselves." At the beginning of the pandemic after the carnival holidays and later also after the summer holidays, the number of infections in Germany rose sharply.

Should this be the case again after Easter, according to Radwan it would be a slap in the face of all those who adhere to the corona rules in Germany.

"We cannot afford any more fatal signals"

In his letter, a copy of which was also sent to Prime Minister Markus Söder, he therefore calls for mandatory corona tests for all return travelers.

“We cannot afford any more fatal signals,” he writes.

“Unfortunately, the latest 'Mallorca boom' represents such a fatal signal and another serious risk from an epidemiological point of view.

It is difficult to convey if you can fly to Mallorca again at Easter without having to test yourself upon re-entry or have to go into quarantine, while in Germany it is not possible to drive your own car to a holiday apartment on Lake Tegernsee or in the Black Forest to drive."

Giving the hotel and catering trade a perspective

Before the next round of prime ministers and the chancellor on Monday, March 22, the CSU presidium member Radwan also wants the hotel and catering industry in Germany to have an open perspective.

A stay in a hotel or in a holiday apartment in Germany is certainly no more dangerous than a trip to Mallorca, where “the whole world comes together” at Easter, with the appropriate hygiene concepts.

Radwan is in line with the representatives of tourism companies from the region, who recently asked for support in discussions with the MP for an early reopening.

Just a few days ago, Radwan was critical of the mask deal between several members of the Union.
