The work of the tenth session of the joint Syrian-Iraqi committee began in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, today, to discuss ways to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Al-Jubouri stressed at the beginning of the meetings that the historical, geographical, cultural and social ties between the two countries are motivating factors to enhance joint cooperation, indicating that his country's government aspires to make the committee's work a turning point in the level of bilateral relations in various fields, especially economic, commercial, cultural and scientific fields.

Al-Jubouri pointed out that there are great points of understanding between the two sides, while there are others that need consultation and coordination in all areas to serve the interests of both countries.

For his part, Hebron stressed the importance of these meetings in consolidating bilateral relations, developing bilateral economic, commercial, artistic, cultural and scientific cooperation, as well as concluding new agreements.

Al-Khalil said in a statement to SANA's correspondent in Baghdad that “cooperation with Iraq is the focus of constant attention by the Syrian government,” indicating that this meeting is to strengthen communication and cooperation between the two countries in various fields and to restore it to the level that existed in the pre-crisis period, pointing to the availability of will And the desire on both sides to enhance mutual cooperation between the two countries.

In a similar statement, the Syrian ambassador to Iraq, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, indicated that the committee's meeting agenda includes discussing what has been achieved in the past period and signing several memoranda of understanding and protocols in the fields of public works, housing, higher education, education, health, culture, media, sports and tourism.

Al-Khalil arrived in Baghdad yesterday evening at the head of an official delegation to participate in the meetings of the Syrian-Iraqi Joint Committee.
