Transferring an amount of 301 million pounds to support chickpeas and lentils farmers in As-Suwayda

The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform transferred an amount of about 301 million pounds to the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in Sweida to be disbursed to farmers as support amounts for the last season's chickpea and lentil crops.

In a statement to SANA's correspondent today, the Director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Engineer Ayham Hamed, confirmed that the support includes 5,657 farmers who planted areas that exceeded 200,000 dunams of the lentil and chickpea crops by 1,500 pounds as support for one acre planted.

He explained that the support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture comes within the framework of encouragement to increase the areas cultivated with crops, and it included farmers who obtained agricultural regulation and those who applied to benefit from the support during the times allocated by the Directorate during the last period.

Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture allocated an amount of about 25 million pounds that was disbursed to farmers through the Agricultural Cooperative Bank as a support for the cultivated fodder crops, and 469 farmers in Sweida benefited from them.
