(CNN Spanish) -

The Sputnik V vaccines seized in Mexico that a group of Hondurans tried to take to Honduras are false, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) reported in a statement.

In a statement released Thursday, the RDIF says the substance was found to be false after analyzing the design of the containers and labels.

In addition, it denounces that the transfer of this shipment is a violation of the protocol for the packaging and transfer of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.

RDIF ensures that each batch of Sputnik V vaccine undergoes strict controls and is transported and distributed only by authorized companies that can provide the appropriate conditions for the preservation of the vaccine.

It also details that each dose is identified with a QR code that allows it to be tracked.

Finally, RDIF emphasizes that Sputnik V vaccines are distributed through official channels and administered by government vaccination programs.

This is how they seized the fake vaccines

The Customs Administration in Mexico, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, seized on Wednesday a cold container with 5,775 supposed doses of the Sputnik V vaccine that they intended to take to Honduras camouflaged between soft drinks and sweets, according to an official statement.

The operation took place when a private aircraft was searched at the Campeche international airport, prior to its departure to the San Pedro Sula airport, in Honduras, authorities said.

They added that the aircraft remained in fiscal guarantee and that the crew and passengers of Honduran nationality will be placed at the order of the Attorney General of the Republic of Mexico.
