Altenstadt - For more than eight years, Bernhard Schöner was a parish officer in the Altenstadt parish community.

His tasks are now carried out by three women: Katharina Hauser, Rebekka Reich and Claudia Dolp - part-time, because the position of community officer is no longer being filled.

“It's a shame that this position will no longer be filled,” says Schöner, regretting this decision.

But he is sure that the three women are doing well too.

As reported, the 54-year-old has been a diocesan officer for the Catholic rural people in Augsburg since January 2021.

His previous tasks as a parish officer of the Altenstadt parish community are clearly distributed: Claudia Dolp, teacher at the elementary school in Altenstadt, has been a volunteer in the parish community and in the parish of St. Martin in Sachsenried and a member of the pastoral council for many years.

In elementary school she teaches the boys and girls of the third grade in the subject of Catholic religion.

"In my work in first communion catechesis, it is particularly important to me to convey joy in the faith that is lived, trust in Jesus and the ability to actively participate in church services," emphasizes Dolp.

Last autumn she started to prepare the children for First Communion in group lessons in the individual parishes.

Katharina Hauser and Rebekka Reich lead the firm preparation in the parish community.

Both grew up in Altenstadt. After a year in Augsburg in the “Basical”, the Christian orientation year of the diocese, they both studied Catholic theology for five years at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Both are happy that they can bring their experiences from youth work to the parish community.

“We really enjoy working here,” they emphasize.

The start of the company preparation was great.

Under Corona conditions, however, not that easy.

They both decided to start the preparations first via a video conference.

Over 50 confirmers took part in the first two meetings.

It is a special concern of both Katharina Hauser and Rebekka Reich that the Catholic faith does not become dusty and boring, but can give a lot of meaning in life.

He could help young people with many decisions in life and give them answers.
