Cuban government scientists reported Friday that a second coronavirus vaccine developed by the island will begin phase 3 clinical trials.
The Abdala vaccine will begin final testing next week as part of a study that will include 48,000 volunteers, the scientists said.

In early March, Cuban scientists announced that another vaccine, Soberana-02, had begun phase 3 trials, and was the first vaccine developed in Latin America to begin phase 3 clinical trials.
On Friday, Cuban scientists also indicated that by August they would produce enough vaccines for the island's 11 million inhabitants.
