and sea bathing during this weekend, with
a

curfew
, to contain the advance of coronavirus infections .
The decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality of the
'wonderful city'
by Mayor Eduardo Paes, taking into account that Rio de Janeiro is the second most populous city in Brazil.

The "kiosques" - bars and cafes installed on the waterfront of the beaches of Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblón and Barra de Tijuca - were authorized to continue operating, although parking in the region was prohibited.
The measure lasts until 5 on Monday and aims to
reduce crowds
to meet hospital demand.
Rio de Janeiro and Roraima are the states that are in critical condition but did not exceed 80% hospital occupancy like the rest of the country, which has a
collapsed health system
in terms of ICU (intensive care) bed occupancy.
The measure also establishes the cessation of passenger entries to the city by buses and combis.

Weekend recreational activities were also suspended in Aterro de Flamengo, on one of the banks of Guanabara Bay.
Rio had already applied the curfew from 23 to 5 and allowing circulation on beaches, but not permanence.
The economic activities are not suspended but, in order not to fill the public transport, the entry times of the workers were made
in a staggered manner
by item.
The mayor Paes plans to
anticipate holidays
to reduce activity next week, something decreed by São Paulo, the largest city in the country, which brought forward five holidays (three in 2022) to reduce economic activity as much as possible from March 26 to March 5. April, including Easter.
The measure was taken after
a 22-year-old
died in São Paulo after
40 hours of waiting
for an ICU bed for Covid-19 patients.
