One rule, a lot of confusion: daycare children who are healthy again should only be allowed to return to their facility with a negative corona test. It's all just a misunderstanding, it is now said.

One rule, a lot of confusion: daycare children who are healthy again should only be allowed to return to their facility with a negative corona test.

It's all just a misunderstanding, it is now said.

Update from March 19:

Again, the Family Ministry points out that the rules now in force do not differ from those of Monday.

In a parenting information from March 11th, there could have been misleading statements.

It mentioned the compulsory test for daycare returnees.

This explicitly does not exist and has never existed, as a spokesman announced again on Friday.

In the past few days there have been umpteen inquiries from unsettled parents to the ministry.

Therefore, it makes it clear once again: There is no compulsory corona test for children who return to the day-care center after recovery.

The Ministry has published an information graphic to illustrate the currently applicable rules for attending the day-care center:

Update from March 16, 5 p.m

.: On Tuesday, Family Minister Carolina Trautner emphasized in the state parliament to

dpa

that the most recent regulations for day-care centers were about “misunderstandings”.

"There is no need for a test to return to the day care center if it (the child, editor's note) has cured the cold."

Trautner also said that it was not true that the ministry had changed the regulation again after Monday.

“Nothing has changed.” Furthermore, it is also possible to test crèche and daycare children with mildly colds.

Children who have recovered from a cold can return to daycare without a test.

Daycare children should have a negative corona test

As a reminder: On Friday, the Ministry of Family Affairs informed parents by letter: "Children with symptoms of an acute, communicable disease need a negative test result before they can visit the day care center again."

Update from March 16:

Roll backwards: After the Family Ministry announced on Friday that from Monday children with mild cold symptoms will only be allowed to visit their daycare center with a negative corona test or return to the facility from sick leave, is already on Day of introduction everything is different.

On Monday, the Family Ministry announced that children who are healthy again do not have to present a negative corona test.

Bavaria's Minister for Family Affairs, Carolina Trautner: “Sick children do not belong in the facilities.

But of course we want to continue to reconcile the interests of parents and children in attending daycare and protection against infection as far as possible.

Therefore, children can visit the facility despite mild cold symptoms, but only after a corona infection has been ruled out by a test.

However, if the children only had a slight cold and are healthy again, they can return without a test. "

Corona tests for daycare children: Regulation will be defused

The abolition of the recently introduced regulation is probably due to the enormous resistance of the parents and also a certain overload of the paediatricians.

According to reports, the practices were completely overloaded with the onslaught of the children to be tested, from one practice it was heard that test capacities would only be available again in the middle of next week.

First message from March 12th:

Munich - Many parents can only roll their eyes at this latest message, which will be distributed in the day care centers on Friday.

Or despair.

One or the other will experience a déjà vu, somehow we've had it all before.

From Monday, the following rules apply in Bavarian day-care centers *: If a child has cold symptoms, it can only visit the day-care center if the parents present a negative Corona * test result.

If the child stays at home, it is only allowed to go back to kindergarten or daycare after it has taken a corona test and it is negative.

Corona test for daycare children: There was already a new rule - it was overturned again

This new, very short-term introduced corona regulation * is justified with the current spread of coronavirus mutations *, especially B.1.1.7, the so-called British variant.

According to the message from the Bavarian Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Affairs, it has "spread over the past few weeks" and "is considered more contagious".

It is therefore necessary to "adapt the regulation on corona testing *".

Findings such as those from the Munich virus monitor study * are not applicable to the mutations, it continues.

Parents already know the new rule.

They already existed in phases last year.

And there, too, it caused displeasure * and was soon abolished again.

Because you have to know that at least some children have a runny nose almost permanently in the winter and transitional months.

Now this is again considered a symptom and a test is needed.

Who should do all of these tests?

The question that parents and paediatricians were asking themselves in 2020 is now coming up again.

Many parents would like corona tests for children: "Maybe something will happen now with the new testing facility"

When asked, many parents are not concerned with the testing itself.

Most of them had longed for it dearly.

"Maybe something will happen with the new testing facility and chains of infection in kindergarten can be stopped more quickly," says a mother who wants to remain anonymous.

So tests, yes, but why now again at such short notice and - as many parents complain, without a strategy.

“Why don't you try something, for example comprehensive pool testing in day-care centers.

Twice a week everyone, educators and children, are tested, with sucking tests, for example, ”says the mother quoted above.

But as one hears from Kita circles, not even the promised quick tests for the staff have yet arrived in the day-care centers.

Fear of the corona test: what about children who refuse?

The Ministry of Social Affairs could answer why the regulation comes so suddenly and why a test strategy was not planned and implemented before the daycare centers opened.

Unfortunately, a query from

Merkur.de

remained without a response.

The pediatricians in particular have to organize and implement the new rule, parents are insecure and feel left alone.

What if the child refuses to take the test?

When is it scared?

“Mine never does that.

And if so, then only once and never again, ”says a desperate mother, who doesn't want to give her name either.

After all, a toddler cannot simply be tested like an adult, according to the person concerned.

It takes a sure instinct.

Pediatrician about corona tests for daycare children: trust relationship already scratched

And anyway: is all the testing on the throat and nose even reasonable for small children?

A pediatrician recently reported that his little patients were already so "frightened".

If your doctor, with whom you are supposed to have a relationship of trust, now picks up your nose with a plastic stick every three weeks, it will probably go completely wrong, so he feared.

Incidentally, some practices have already reacted, as inquiries show: They offer their child patients saliva tests.

The stick is only placed under the tongue, so it has to be salivated for a while.

It's painless, you don't have to be afraid of it.

If there's a gummy bear afterwards, you can endure it more often as a child.
