The largest French stadium, located in Saint-Denis, will vaccinate thousands of people every week. Its precise opening date

The Stade de France, located in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), will soon reopen its doors to the public… Not to see a football match or a concert, but to get vaccinated.

A "vaccinodrome" - a huge vaccination center - should indeed take place next month in the stadium which saw the Blues become world football champions in 1998. It "will allow thousands of inhabitants to be vaccinated every week. of Seine-Saint-Denis but also of Île-de-France ”.

This project, for which we do not yet know the exact opening date, is the result of work "with the Regional Health Agency of Île-de-France, the Prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis and the Paris fire brigade ”, in conjunction with the Department and the city of Saint-Denis.

"In this perspective, and while more than 50% of people over 75 have been vaccinated in Seine-Saint-Denis according to official data, we call, together, to open vaccination to new audiences", write Stéphane Troussel, president of the Departmental Council, and Matthieu Hanotin, the mayor of Saint-Denis, convinced that vaccination is the key to "lowering the pressure on the hospital system and reducing severe forms" of Covid-19.

Seine-Saint-Denis particularly affected

In Seine-Saint-Denis, the incidence rate of the virus has skyrocketed to 546 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days, well above the maximum alert threshold set at 250 by the health authorities, according to ARS Ile-de-France figures available on Friday.

Seine-Saint-Denis, like the other departments of Île-de-France, is the subject of additional measures with a closure of shops and a ban on going out more than 10 kilometers from home without a compelling or professional reason. .

In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the emblematic Vélodrome stadium has already been hosting a Covid-19 vaccination center since Monday.

It is installed in the premises of a stand, and not on the lawn or in the stands, according to the regional health authorities (ARS).
