The Czech Republic is trying by all means to get the corona virus under control - in the truest sense of the word.

An antibody cocktail is now to be used on the very front lines.

Prague - Doctors in the Czech Republic, which has been severely affected by the pandemic, are receiving a new drug against the coronavirus *.

The first delivery of the antibody cocktail Regeneron is expected in the next few days, Prime Minister Andrej Babis said on Friday, according to the CTK agency.

The Ministry of Health in Prague has already granted emergency approval for the drug, which was also used to treat former US President Donald Trump *.

Trump received the REGN-COV2 antibody cocktail from the US company Regeneron at the beginning of October.

The active ingredient of REGN-COV2 is a combination of two specially developed antibodies that bind to the so-called spike protein of the coronavirus and can thus deform its structure.

This is to prevent the coronavirus from attacking human cells.

According to Regeneron, the combination of two different antibodies should prevent Sars-CoV-2 from mutating.

At the same time, the then 74-year-old Trump was treated with the drug remdesivir, according to his personal doctor

Another antibody preparation, Bamlanivimab from Eli Lilly, has been used in the Czech Republic since February.

Germany also secured antibody-based corona drugs at the beginning of 2021.

Corona: The situation in the Czech Republic is getting worse

The Czech Republic is struggling with a dramatic third wave.

People are only allowed to leave their district in exceptional cases.

The minority government has extended these travel restrictions until March 28th.

On this day, the emergency that has been in place since October expires.

The cabinet will not officially decide on an expected extension of the lockdown over Easter and beyond until Monday - and Parliament would also have to agree to this.

The authorities reported 10,576 new corona cases within 24 hours on Friday.

There have been 24,331 deaths since the pandemic began.

Within 7 days, more than 680 people per 100,000 inhabitants were infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus.

In Germany, the so-called seven-day incidence was 95.6.

The Czech Republic has been fighting a dramatic corona wave for weeks.

The 7-day incidence was already at 800. A mathematician was shocked with his prognosis - “At the end of May we will be off the hook”.
