Summary.

In the summer of 2020, the vaccine race is raging.

Several laboratories are in pole position to find a candidate against the Covid-19, including the Swedish-British AstraZeneca.

It is on him that Europe decides to bet.

An agreement was signed on August 14 for a pre-order of 400 million doses.

On August 31, AstraZeneca launches phase 3 of its clinical trials.

But a week later, on September 8, she was interrupted.

The laboratory indicates that one of the participants contracted an unexplained illness following the injection of the vaccine.

However, Pascal Soriot, the CEO of the pharmaceutical group, wants to be reassuring.

Trials resume on September 12.

At the end of December, the United Kingdom was the first country to grant marketing authorization for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

It was not until January 29 that the European Medicines Agency gave the green light.

But several studies sow confusion and question the effectiveness of the vaccine on people over 65.

On Thursday, March 11, Denmark, Iceland and Norway suspended the use of the vaccine following the discovery of cases of thrombosis in some patients.
