Today (19th) is the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Civic Party. The Chairman of the Civic Party, Leung Jiajie, recalled the past fifteen years. He said that the Civic Party had "prosperity and decline at different times, generations change, and personnel changes". Even though the current prospects are gloomy, the original intention of the party was not established. It is hoped that Hong Kong will establish a truly democratic system and realize the universal suffrage promised by the Basic Law for Hong Kong people.

Liang Jiajie also mentioned that several former party members were suffering in prison at this time. As specialist doctors, barristers, and pilots, they could have lived a good life, but they had the heart to pursue democracy, in order to establish a democratic system and be rational and gentle. Discussing politics, sacrificing career development and family relationship time, and even sacrificing personal freedom, is distressing.

Former Civic Party leader Yang Yueqiao, party vice chairmen Tan Wenhao, Guo Jiaqi, and Eastern District Councillor Li Yuxin are charged with conspiracy to subvert state power for participating in the "35+" primary election. They are now being returned and the four have resigned from the party.

Liang Jiajie wrote an article in the newspaper that the Civic Party firmly believes that the democratic system can make the parliament and the government fully accountable to the people and restrict public power so that the citizens' basic human rights, freedom and well-being can be protected.

Liang Jiajie lamented that this utopia is even more distant than 15 years ago, but as a founding party member, current chairman and a member of the democratic movement, he has not given up this belief.

Liang Jiajie also said that although Hong Kong today has become completely unrecognizable and many freedoms and rights are rapidly disappearing, Hong Kong still has value to the country and the international community and needs to be guarded by everyone.

He promised that the Civic Party is willing to walk with Hong Kong people to spend the downturn together, "looking to the future and waiting for the dawn."

The Citizen Party was formerly an Article 45 Concern Group, which is mainly composed of legal professionals who are concerned about the promotion of "double universal suffrage" for the Chief Executive and the Legislative Council in accordance with Article 45 of the Basic Law. The founding party members include Yu Ruowei, Chen Wenmin, and Wu Aiyi , Liang Jiajie, Tang Jiahua, etc.
