An accident on the A93 triggered a whole series of follow-up accidents.
There were a total of nine injured and numerous destroyed or damaged vehicles.
Pechbrunn / Mitterteich - Poor visibility and difficult road conditions were the reason for a whole series of accidents on the A93 near Pechbrunn (Tirschenreuth district *).
A total of 22 ambulances, two rescue helicopters, six emergency doctors and 23 fire engines were in action.
The motorway was closed for many hours.

It all started at around 1 p.m. when a 27-year-old Austrian lost control of his car during snowfall and a slippery road between the Pechbrunn and Mittterteich-Nord junctions.

The driver was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
An ambulance * also brought its companion to a clinic.
The car suffered a total loss of 20,000 euros.
Subsequently, a 62-year-old wanted to stop with his VW Polo next to the accident vehicle to help.
But a 51-year-old missed the braking maneuver and wanted to swerve to the left.
In doing so, however, he collided with the rear of the Polo.
The 62-year-old was pushed into the right lane.
The 51-year-old crashed into the middle barrier.
From this he bounced off again and grazed the rear of a van driving in front of him.
Both the polo driver and the younger man were injured to a moderate degree and were also taken to nearby hospitals.

Accident on the A93: The truck hits the end of a traffic jam due to poor visibility
A long traffic jam formed as a result of the accident.
At the end of it stood a couple from Mitterteich.
Because the visibility was very poor - you could only see about 200 meters - a truck driver noticed the end of the traffic jam too late and crashed into the couple's car.
The couple were seriously injured in the collision and had to be freed from their car by the fire brigade.
The helpers used heavy equipment to remove the car roof.

They were driven to a nearby gas station by the Bavarian Red Cross.
There they were picked up by their relatives.
The nine injured were all taken to hospitals in the region.
In some cases, debris was also thrown onto the opposite lane, which led to the motorway being completely closed.
