Trump's club and residence in Mar-a-Lago closes due to coronavirus outbreak

Former President Donald Trump's club in Palm Beach, Florida, has been partially closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak, according to multiple sources familiar with the incident, including a member of the complex who received a phone call informing him of the closing this Friday.

A receptionist at the Mar-a-Lago club confirmed the news and said it was closed until further notice, but declined to comment further.

Another person familiar with the operations of the compound said that, as a precaution, they had “partially closed” a “section of the club” for a short period of time and

had quarantined some of its workers.

These people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on what happened.

It is not clear the number of coronavirus infections, what parts of the club were closed or if it affected and how the family of the former president.

Representatives for Trump and the Florida Department of Health did not immediately respond to a phone call and email Friday seeking comment.

Trump moved to Mar-a-Lago after leaving Washington DC in January, and has spent the weeks

since then playing golf, dining with friends, meeting with GOP leaders,

and reflecting on his political future as he considers whether to run. to the presidency again in 2024.

Trump was hospitalized with COVID-19 last fall and received the virus vaccine at the White House in January in secret.

Mar-a-Lago was the place where he was first exposed to the virus, more than a year ago.
