The most prominent feature of the poet's poetic and literary experience was Abdul Basit Al-Sufi, in a critical symposium organized by the Cultural Center in Homs at the end of the festival, which he held in his honor and which lasted for three days.
The critic Radwan Kodmani presented a critical study on the experience of the Sufi who left us at the age of no more than thirty, except that during this short period he left a distinct legacy of poetry, where his childhood and youth had an impact on the formation of his literary personality and the early feeling of the weight of traditions and emotional tendency towards emancipation that He manifested himself with a mystical whiff in his poetry, which he said in one of his poems, "But my kingdom is not of this world ... it is strange that I feel the anthem burned."
For his part, the doctor and critic Hayel Al-Taleb said that the experience of "Al-Sufi" raises questions about the reasons for the tragic nature that characterized his poems and his influence with Sufi philosophy, which gave his experience a historical value that distinguished him from his peers in the 1960s, referring to his poem "The City of the West" when he made trees an equivalent Artistically and objectively, life projected its states on man and his inner emotions, navigating the philosophical depth of the connotations of language in a new image that enriches reality.
Dr. Walid Al-Arfi concluded that “Al-Sufi” was a bright spot in the literary and intellectual history of Homs, as he was a writer before he was a poet. The old classical framework turned into one of the pioneers of modern romanticism, who had a philosophical and critical vision in life, especially in social criticism.
The Abdul Basit Sufi Festival was distinguished by a wide cultural presence and included poetry and critical evenings in honor of this poet, whose poetry had a beautiful imprint in the history of modern Syrian poetry.
