Five people were killed and others were injured in an explosion at a chemical plant in Maharashtra, southwest India.
"The explosion occurred in a chemical plant in Ratnagiri area and led to the outbreak of a huge fire, resulting in the death of five people and the injury of others with burns," Xinhua news agency quoted local police as saying, indicating that about 50 people who were stuck inside the factory were rescued by rescue teams.
Police indicated that investigations are underway to find out the circumstances and causes of the explosion.
