Britain’s most successful and popular choreographer and director Matthew Bourne, following the male version of "Swan Lake", "Cinderella" and "Romeo and Juliet" several new classics , Once again subverted imagination, adapted the classic movie "Hong Lingyan" and created the award-winning dance drama "Red Shoes".

"Red Shoes" is based on Mike Powell and Emery Pressberg's movie "Red Diamonds" and Andersen's fairy tales.

Andersen’s "Red Shoes" tells the tragedy of a girl who loves to dance and puts on red shoes that make people unable to stop dancing. The movie "Hong Ling Yan" brings this pair of fairy tale dance shoes into the ballerina Peggy and composer. The love triangle between the family lover and the dancer of the dance troupe is in a dilemma.

In the story, Peggy, the heroine who aspires to be a great ballerina, is appreciated by the manager of the dance company to become the protagonist of the stage; the composer who is also appreciated by the dancer of the dance company has been in love with the dancer for a long time, but the manager is in the dark Here, resentment grows in my heart... Is it the pursuit of art or love that connects the host and Peggy?

Is the composer's obsession with Paige love or possessiveness?

And between dreams and love, how should Peggy choose?

The Hong Kong Arts Festival specially presents this set of Bourne’s carefully planned ballet film "Red Shoes". He cleverly restored the classic movie to the ballet stage, and invited Oscar winner Bernard Herman to recreate The music is arranged so that the music in the play is full of the atmosphere of the golden age of Hollywood.

As long as the audience in Hong Kong sits at home, they can enjoy the emotional dance, the magnificent theater setting and the colorful costumes from an angle that is difficult to see on the spot, making this poignant story even more moving.

After the show premiered, it immediately won the 2017 Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Choreographer, and subsequent performances were all well received.

The famous British art and entertainment magazine The List even pointed out that Byrne's "Red Shoes" can "go straight to the heart of the charming and poignant post-war dance world, and every scene shows the classic Matthew Byrne style."
