The escalation started from a tweet from the embassy on Friday, treating Antoine Bondaz, a researcher at the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS), of
"small strike"
for having denounced Chinese pressure on French parliamentarians wishing to go to Taiwan.
Geopolitical experts and French elected officials then defended this specialist in China, in open conflict with the embassy for months (she blocked him from accessing his Twitter account).
"Some accuse the Chinese Embassy of
" assaulting "
an
" independent researcher. "
In reality
(..)
he is just an ideological troll
,
”
replied the embassy on Sunday March 21 on its website, accusing it of being pro Taiwanese.
She also attacked the
"crazy hyenas"
who
"dress in the clothes of researchers and media and attack China furiously
.
"
The embassy denies having exceeded diplomatic customs, while some demand a strong gesture of protest from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Diplomacy is
"defending the interests and image of one's country,"
she said.
"Uninhibited rhetoric"
Antoine Bondaz once again denounced these outbursts on Sunday, deploring
"a feeling of total impunity"
and
"uninhibited rhetoric"
of Chinese diplomacy abroad.
The embassy is accustomed to pikes, if not attacks in order against detractors of China.
Ambassador Lu Shaye recently declared himself
“firmly opposed”
to a visit by French parliamentarians to Taiwan.
"French parliamentarians decide freely on their travel plans and their contacts,"
replied the Quai d'Orsay.
The People's Republic of China considers this territory to be one of its provinces and threatens to use force in the event of a formal proclamation of independence on the island, supported by the United States.
