Bolivian justice extended Saturday from four to six months the provisional detention of the former interim president of Bolivia Jeanine Añez, accused of having participated in an alleged coup against Evo Morales in 2019.

"
This is not a surprise,
" responded Ms. Añez's lawyer, Luis Guillen, following the hearing.
This decision, taken after a long court hearing, also applies to his former ministers of justice and energy, also in detention.
The lawyers of the former transitional president had filed a request for release after the "
hypertension crisis
" of which she had suffered after her imprisonment.
Jeanine Añez was transferred by ambulance to a prison in La Paz where she can be medically monitored, according to the prison services.

Ms. Añez's daughter, Carolina Ribera, denounced "

The 53-year-old former Conservative vice-president was arrested on March 14, along with two of her former ministers, following a complaint for "
sedition
", "
terrorism
" and "
conspiracy
" filed by a former MP of the MAS, the party of his socialist predecessor Evo Morales.
