STORY - Two women who sent money from family allowances to their sister in Syria were arrested by the DGSI and taken into police custody.

Money, the sinews of war… and of jihadism.

The case that arose last week is both modest and revealing.

Because it bears witness to the discreet and systematic work of the intelligence services to fight against “family” financial support for jihadists present in the Syrian-Iraqi zone, where, after the recorded setbacks, terrorist organizations are reconstituting themselves in hiding.

Monday March 15, investigators from the Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI) arrested two women in Nîmes.

Placed in custody, these two sisters financially helped a third with a much more worrying personality.

Left in the Syrian-Iraqi zone in the years 2014-2015, those of the creation and expansion of the “Caliphate”, this radicalized third sister is still there with her children.

And it is not held by Syrian or Kurdish forces but still free to move in one of the pockets of Islamist resistance.
