Despite a positive municipal council decision, the young people in Fischbachau are still waiting for their pump track.

Now initiator Fabienne Nadjar (11) has again collected signatures.

Fischbachau

- In August 2019, Fabienne Nadjar (11) heard the Fischbachau local council decide on her heart project, but nothing has happened yet.

For a pump track, a circuit for bikes of all kinds, in Lehenpoint, Fabienne had collected hundreds of support signatures, the then mayor Josef Lechner had raised funds.

After a long debate, the local councils wrested a tight "Yes".

Nevertheless, Fischbachau has not even started construction.

In its most recent meeting, the local council postponed the issue again (we reported).

In an interview, Fabienne explains why she collected signatures again because of this.

Fabienne, the local council postponed the pump track at its most recent meeting.

Your opinion?

Fabienne Nadjar:

I would like the

pump

track to be built this summer.

I've been fighting for it for three years.

Especially now, when no club activities are possible, that would be a ray of hope for the youth.

I am asked again and again why the pump track is not finished, even though the municipal council decided on it in 2019.

I can't explain it either.

I wish that something really happened now.

The municipal councils mainly talked about the underground - as they did in 2019. Many people do not want to asphalt the pump track.

Fabienne Nadjar:

A paved

pump

track offers many advantages.

You can drive it with all sports equipment, and clubs can use it for training.

For example, I would like to do inline skates on the pump track, like many skiers do in summer.

This is not possible with natural tracks.

I can only ride my bike on it.

That unnecessarily restricts the pump track, and that would be a shame.

The municipal councils also liked the natural track because the users can change it.

Fabienne Nadjar:

That's true.

You can adapt them and build jumps.

But the jumps can only be used by a few.

Scooters can't jump like bicycles.

Again, that excludes some.

In addition, the hills slide off on natural tracks.

This creates lumps.

If you drive over there with inline skates, it throws you.

The argument remains that the natural track is cheaper.

Fabienne Nadjar:

Only an asphalted

pump

track is funded by Leader (an EU funding project, editor's note) to 50 percent.

In addition, two local sports shops have offered to sponsor the event.

I am very pleased that you are also behind the project.

So the cost is not the problem.

I think there is no reason to build the pump track without asphalt.

What is the mood like among the young people?

Does everyone see it that way?

Fabienne Nadjar:

Many people are fully behind the asphalt project.

I collected signatures again and put out lists in shops.

In a week and a half, 500 people signed up.

I will give the lists to the local council.

Do you think it will be faster then?

Fabienne Nadjar:

I hope so.

Andi Wittmann, who designs the pump track, also visits the local council and explains what a pump track is exactly: an asphalt wave run that can be used with all kinds of sports equipment.

I think then it becomes clear why it has to be paved.
