Five war-time mortars and grenades were "unearthed" on the top of Magang Hill in Stanley, and the explosives disposal department handled them on the spot.

At 12 noon today (21st), Edward, a 28-year-old French male named "bomb hunter", and other military fans were searching the Magang Mountain with a metal detector. During the search, grenades and mortars were found on the top of the mountain. Then he called the police for help.

The police and firefighters blocked the location where the bomb was found. After preliminary inspection by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Section, they found 4 World War II grenades, each about 6 inches in length and 2 inches in diameter; and a mortar from the World War II period. It is about 8 inches long and 2.5 inches in diameter, and is arranged to be detonated on the spot.

No one was injured in the incident, and dozens of hikers were evacuated.

Edward said that the location of the bomb was found about an hour away from the road section of Stanley Gorge. He took away some of the non-hazardous bomb components as a memorial, including the bomb's safety cap and bullet casing.

He pointed out that the bomb was a British bomb in 1941 and described himself as "We are the first people to touch this since 1941."

As for the bullet shells, he and his friends discovered that they belonged to the United Kingdom and Japan. He pointed out that the shells were like "exhibits" at the crime scene. They could explain the identity of the shooter, the position where the gun was fired, and the direction in which it was aimed. Reconstruct the picture from the war 80 years ago.

Edward also pointed out that the bomb components and bullets represent the history of Hong Kong, allowing everyone to understand what happened in the past.

He also said with a smile that he couldn't take the bomb, so he couldn't show everyone more.

Edward is a military fan. He came to Hong Kong to engage in the wine business 7 years ago. From time to time, he would bring a metal detector to various places in Hong Kong to search for bombs left during the war.

He has found wartime bombs several times in the past. In April 2018, he found 5 wartime grenades at the Wong Nai Chung Gap Road Cocktail Club in Happy Valley on the Jindu Chi Horse Trail; in June of the same year, he once again visited Jindu Two suspected grenades were found on the hillside off Chimajing.
