Rolling cars, sliding trucks - and a whole series of accidents.

The late onset of winter caused chaos on the A8 between Irschenberg and Valley.

Irschenberg / Weyarn / Valley

- The Holzkirchen motorway police station recorded a number of accidents on Friday and Saturday, March 19 and 20, on the A8 between Irschenberg and Valley.

Cars and trucks alike were involved.

The cause was always the same: slippery snow and ice.

It crashed for the first time on Friday evening around 5.45 p.m.

A Mercedes Sprinter was driving on the left lane in the direction of Munich when it lurched through the slush in the Valley municipal area.

The police cannot understand the reaction of the driver, a 39-year-old Austrian: the man pulled the handbrake.

His van then made a turn and crashed head-on into the central guardrail.

But the Austrian was lucky: he was unharmed.

The property damage to the Mercedes was around 8,000 euros.

The consequences of this accident were all the more serious.

Because only five minutes later there was the next collision.

A 25-year-old golf driver from the Upper Palatinate braked to drive carefully past the van that had crashed in the middle lane.

However, a 33-year-old from Munich recognized this too late.

He swerved to the left, but skidded and drove his Fiat Ducato into the VW Golf.

Here, too, both parties involved in the accident got away with the horror.

According to the police, the total damage amounts to a whopping 22,000 euros.

A lack of winter equipment was the reason for the slide that a 25-year-old Romanian experienced on Saturday around midnight on the A8.

Because he had summer tires on his car, he turned right off the autobahn in the Weyarn municipal area in the direction of Salzburg on a snow-covered lane and slid into the guardrail.

The Romanian was unharmed, but his vehicle suffered property damage of 7,500 euros.

A small pile-up then occurred on Saturday morning at around 7.50 a.m. on the A8.

At the Irschenberg junction, a 34-year-old truck driver from Romania stumbled with his semitrailer in the direction of Munich.

He caught the VW bus of a 57-year-old from Sundern with the back of his truck.

But that's not all: the semitrailer continued to slide into the middle lane, where it touched the VW Golf belonging to a 56-year-old from Bergen.

The uncontrolled journey only came to an end on the trailer of a Polish truck driver, on which the Romanian got stuck.

The four occupants of the VW bus were slightly injured in the collision and were taken to nearby hospitals by the rescue workers.

A helicopter also landed on the A8 during the large-scale operation.

The total property damage was 20,000 euros.

The fact that there was another incident during the operation was due to a 50-year-old Romanian who, due to insufficient distance, brushed against the fire brigade's safety trailer at 9.26 a.m. and lost the right exterior mirror in the process.

The damage to the fire service trailer is around 250 euros.

The last accident in the series happened around 11 a.m.

A 42-year-old Romanian wanted to turn into the parking lot Seehamer See in the direction of Salzburg and slid to the right into the green strip on a snow-slippery road.

The truck got so wedged that it couldn't get out on its own.

A towing company from Irschenberg then came with heavy equipment.

The property damage to the guardrail and truck amounts to 1000 euros.

Almost a trifle on this damaging late winter weekend on the A8.
