Athena-SANA The Greek Ministry of Health today requested doctors specializing in respiratory diseases from the sector

Athena-Sana

Today, the Greek Ministry of Health called on doctors specializing in respiratory diseases working in the private sector to help government hospitals in efforts to address Corona, after the number of HIV infections increased significantly in the capital, Athens.

The Associated Press quoted Health Minister Vasilis Kikilias as saying that few doctors working in the private sector responded to repeated appeals to volunteer and help in government efforts, which forced him to order pathologists, respiratory and general medicine specialists to help.

Kikilias added that this measure comes in the context of the emergency plan prepared by the Ministry of Health, which noted that it is necessary to mobilize doctors from the private sector in the fight against Covid 19.

Kikilias said last Friday that he would ask doctors from the private sector to volunteer at least two hundred doctors within 48 hours, but government spokeswoman Arsotilia Belloni confirmed today that only 61 doctors have voluntarily applied.

Today, Greece recorded 69 deaths and 1,705 new infections with the Coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections recorded in the country to 238,830, while the total deaths reached 7,531 cases.
