The mega project in the south of Maisach stirs hearts.

At times, more than 80 citizens took part in an online discussion group organized by the Greens.

Criticism of the community's plans predominated, at least in this group.

Maisach

- Even in the run-up to the event, there was a dispute on social media between Mayor Hans Seidl (CSU) and Barbara Helmers, who sits on the local council for the Greens.

In part, this continued online.

Seidl criticized the fact that he was not allowed to present the community's considerations in detail.

Helmers insisted that this was a Greens event, at which the opinions of the population should be asked.

A minute-long lecture by an individual is not provided.

The subject of the debate is the plans to swap space with the Karl Group.

The company is to receive the approximately 2.4 hectare area of SC Maisach, on which building land could be designated.

In return, the municipality would get around 8.2 hectares on the site on which the Daglfinger Traber racecourse was to be built - which has long since been destroyed.

There, SC Maisach, which needs more space, could get a new sports area.

In addition, the community is considering building a new outdoor pool on the site, as there are problems with noise protection at the current location.

Despite the disagreements between Seidl and Helmers, the online debate was decent - although different opinions clashed.

When the sports club moved to the new site, club member Thomas Puhl said: "From the club's point of view, that would be like winning the lottery." The current site cannot be expanded.

One of the participants, on the other hand, claims to have heard that the association's board of directors is not that keen on a new building.

The association should not incur any costs as a result of the move.

"But there are probably concerns about the maintenance costs for the new site," said the citizen.

Close to the FFH area

The critics of the plans referred to the effects of a new building on nature.

Helmers was bothered by the large amount of land used, which also has an impact on climate change: “Soils are CO2 stores.” She also dislikes the fact that the area borders the FFH protected area on two sides - south and east.

She showed an alternative proposal by the Greens to move the development so that at least in the south one moves away from the FFH area.

But some of the participants didn't like that either.

A citizen criticized that habitats for animals were also being destroyed there.

Helmers stated that it was a compromise.

Seidl confirmed the objection of a citizen that building rights exist on the area - for horse-related businesses.

A rescheduling that deprives the owner of this building permit is not possible.

Seidl: "We won't get a green meadow." In addition, the Greens' proposal is close to the place.

This could possibly cause problems with the noise again.

"That is still being checked," said the town hall chief.

The outdoor swimming pool

On the question of relocating the outdoor pool, there was broad agreement: the current location should remain.

Seidl's suggestion that the bathroom could not be expanded because the existing protection would then no longer apply and the noise levels that were already being exceeded would become a problem, some did not accept.

One said: "I would let it depend." Another: "The people who moved there knew beforehand that there was an outdoor pool."

In the case of a residential development on the current SC area, one participant also had concerns as to whether the necessary infrastructure - schools, daycare centers, roads - would be financially affordable by the community in Corona times.

Helmers now wants to take the opinions of the participants with him to the municipal council.

Seidl announced an information event for the community as soon as Corona allows face-to-face events again.
