Russia expressed its regret that America did not accept its offer to hold an open dialogue with it, noting that Washington thus missed a new opportunity to repair Russian-American relations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today: “It is regrettable that the US side did not respond to the offer of Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold an open conversation via video conference with US President Joe Biden on the 19 or 22 of this March to discuss the accumulated problems. In bilateral relations as well as issues related to strategic stability.
The statement emphasized that the American side thus missed a new opportunity to search for a way out of the impasse in the Russian-American relations, which arose out of Washington’s mistakes, adding that the responsibility for that lies entirely with the United States.
Last week, Putin offered Biden to hold talks on the air, following statements made by the latter attacking the Russian president and calling him a "murderer."
