Kirchdorf has been waiting for the pedestrian traffic lights on Rathausplatz for years.

But some local councilors don't quite trust the thing yet.

Kirchdorf

- The pedestrian traffic lights at Rathausplatz should come after a six-year waiting period, at least that's how it is currently planned.

The Greens wanted to know at the recent Kirchdorf municipal council meeting whether a mobile traffic light should not be set up for safety in the meantime.

The reason given by the Greens: The permanent traffic lights have been delayed considerably, so that citizens of all ages can no longer be expected to forego this safety-enhancing measure.

The topic is not new: last year there was an interim traffic light to bridge the meeting with the council - but at that time everyone still relied on the permanent traffic light to be on until Christmas.

The cost of around 3000 euros per month for such a rental traffic light also reinforced the decision to wait a little longer.

Greens propose three alternatives

But how should the transition period be dealt with until school starts?

In their application, the Greens suggested three time options - from immediately to the start of school at the latest, a mobile traffic light system would be conceivable for them.

Mayor Uwe Gerlsbeck (CSU) wanted to capture a picture of the mood in the committee, but was quite relieved that in the traffic light cause the structure was finally “bracketed” as it should be.

For Elisabeth Hörand (CSU / FW) the traffic light is still “right and important” - despite this “drama about responsibilities”.

You trust the dates that have been set.

However, if the traffic light does not stand by the first day of school, then she would also advocate this mobile system.

Because Hörand's résumé: “At some point we will make ourselves look ridiculous!” In this regard, Gerslbeck was able to reassure: “We are in very close contact with the engineering office.”

Local councils fear that deadlines will not be kept

However, Andreas Schmitz (FWG) reminded that the tenders were already behind schedule, in his opinion "it will continue like this." Schmitz had also spoken to some school helpers who would find a mobile traffic light very good - including children and drivers Getting used to it before school starts.

Perhaps, according to Schmitz, the state building authority would “take heart” and contribute to the costs.

In principle, however, he would definitely recommend finding an interim solution early enough as soon as it was foreseeable that the deadlines would not be met.

Gerlsbeck made the calculation: If the municipality were to put a traffic light tomorrow, it would cost around 15,000 euros.

He also hopes that the state building authority has a cheaper variant in stock.

Johannes Kaindl (FWG): Turn traffic lights into leverage

Johannes Kaindl (FWG) suggested using the mobile traffic light as a “leverage” according to the motto: “If you don't finish, there will be costs.” According to Claudia Reinmoser (FWG), this is an illusion - these costs could be not be passed on to the building authority.

Martin Heyne (Greens) also preferred that variant, at the latest when it becomes apparent that there will be nothing with a traffic light to take action - preferably at the beginning of school.

The decision for this was made unanimously.
