Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, affirmed his country's readiness to restore the "normal, non-politicized dealings formula" with the European Union in the event the other side expresses its interest in this.
"Putin described relations between Russia and the European Union at the present time as unsatisfactory," a statement by the Kremlin said today, according to what Russia Today reported, indicating that the reason for this is due to the stances of Moscow's partners "that are not constructive, but sometimes inclined to confrontation."
The statement indicated that Putin and Michel discussed the prospects for using the Russian "Sputnik V" anti-Corona vaccine in the European Union countries, and they also discussed the settlement of the internal Ukrainian crisis, the situation in Belarus, and some other urgent issues.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced earlier today that relations between Russia and the European Union are close to collapse, after the European Union, with its recent sanctions, put a new obstacle to the development of normal relations between the two sides.
