Climate protection on a small scale: Everyone can do something against global warming in and on their own home - for example with solar systems.

The district is promoting this, the Starnberg Merkur has visited some winners of the solar premium 2020.

Aufkirchen - Around 100 homeowners took part in the raffle for the solar bonus by the district in 2020.

What they all have in common is that they have only just put a photovoltaic system into operation.

Is it very complicated?

What do you save yourself with the electricity from your own roof, and what do you have to spend first?

How did the plant owners cope with the bureaucracy?

Some winners report in Starnberg Mercury how things went with solar power and how complicated or simple it was.

Today: Roman Wörndl (63) from Aufkirchen.

“Every morning when I wake up and the sun is shining, my heart leaps.” This is how Roman Wörndl describes his life with the photovoltaic system.

The panels on its roof have been producing electricity since September 2020, for a total of 10,000 kilowatt hours over the year.

In order to have electricity in the household even at night, the system also has a battery with which Wörndl can store 13 kilowatt hours of electricity.

“The idea for the system came from the circle of friends who warmly recommended the use of solar power to us,” says Wörndl.

You can now cover 80 percent of your electricity needs with the system on the roof.

According to Wörndl, the way there was surprisingly easy: “The installation company that we commissioned with the project really made it very easy for us.

We only had to fill out a few applications together with them, and they took over the rest. ”He puts the cost of the system at around 30,000 euros.

But Wörndl is reluctant to put the mere financial aspect in the foreground with such a system.

"Of course it has to be financially worthwhile somehow, but basically we want to make our contribution to a green future," explains Wörndl.

But the system is also worthwhile.

With the system, Wörndl not only supplies his household with electricity, but also that of a tenant and also the electricity needs of the painting school that he runs with his wife.

“As a result, we always had very high electricity bills, but the current costs are only a fraction of what they were before,” says Wörndl.

In the future, the 63-year-old also wants to rely on electricity when it comes to mobility.

“As an artist, my wife and I need a car that also has some loading space.

Such an e-car will soon be on the market, then we'll strike. ”In order to be able to cover the additional electricity demand, Wörndl is already planning to supplement the photovoltaic system with another system on a new carport.

"I am already fully convinced of the new plans, but I will still have to do a bit of persuading my wife," says Wörndl with a laugh.

Climate protection on a small scale

If you are interested in a photovoltaic system or other regenerative energy sources for your house, you can get lots of tips from the Starnberg district office.

A good start is a solar check, for which homeowners can register at z (0 81 51) 14 84 42.

A good introduction is the district office's website at www.lk-starnberg.de in the area of citizen service, environment, energy and climate protection.
