With lots of helping hands and heavy equipment, the trapped passenger was freed from the wreck.

The 36-year-old was flown to hospital in an ADAC helicopter after a brief treatment in the ambulance.

As a police spokesman explained on Sunday in response to an FT request, the passenger is out of danger to life and, according to the current state of knowledge, has mostly broken bones.

The public prosecutor ordered an accident analysis report on Friday.
