Disciplined hustle and bustle prevailed in the event hall of the Gilching town hall on Sunday: The community and the St. Vitus pharmacy had set up a test campaign for elementary school children from Gilching and Weßling at short notice.

The initiators around Aportheker Dr.

Stefan Hartmann and Mayor Manfred Walter find out with how many people and in what time 200 kindergarten children can be tested for the corona virus.

Gilching - They also wanted to determine how much space is required for this.

By means of digital appointments every minute, the organizers made sure that the children and their parents had to wait a maximum of three minutes.

There were four test streets, each with two people, testers and helpers.

Both nose and throat tests were available.

As a reward, all children (and parents too) received glucose.

With an app that can be downloaded for free on an Android smartphone or iPhone, the kindergarten children received their results directly on their parents' mobile phones.

“The result was impressive,” reports pharmacist Hartmann.

175 people could have been successfully tested in 150 minutes.

"Parents can send their children to kindergarten with a better feeling because none of the tested kindergarten children can infect other children," says Hartmann.

For him, one thing is certain: With the right organization, a large number of test subjects can be tested in a reasonable amount of time.

The next project is planned for all school children from Gilching and Weßling to receive a rapid antigen test at the end of the Easter holidays.

The number of test specimens is to be increased gradually.

A rapid test center is also planned in Gilching or Weßling.

"Because only by extensive testing can chains of infection be broken and thus the pandemic contained as long as not enough citizens are vaccinated," emphasizes Manfred Walter.
