The male proprietor of a snack shop in Thailand was caught in a drenching case last Saturday night (20th). After days of investigation, the police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding.

The police said that the male victim suffered chemical burns in multiple parts of his body, and the injuries accounted for 14% of his body. He is still in hospital and is in stable condition.

After two days of investigation, the Second Squad of the Kowloon City Police District Crime Squad arrested a 16-year-old unemployed local man in a public housing unit in Tuen Mun early this (23rd) morning. The police found that he was also burned by corrosive liquids. Police immediately sent him to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin for treatment of his wounds, including the waist, hands, legs and the position between the legs. He was found to have 2.5% chemical burns on his body. The arrested person still remained. Hospital observation.

After investigation by the police, it is believed that the motive of the crime was related to the personal affairs of the victim, and the case is still under investigation.

The incident occurred at nearly 7pm last Saturday (20th) at a Thai snack shop on the ground floor of 61 Carpenter Road, Kowloon City. The 44-year-old male proprietor was grilling in the restaurant. Suddenly a man wearing a mask and a peaked cap approached. After splashing him with corrosive liquid suspected to be canal water, he fled towards the Kowloon Walled City Park.

The male victim suffered chemical burns in multiple parts of his body. He was awake and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries were stable.

Inspector Tang Haoting of the Second Team of the Crime Squad, Kowloon City Police District, explained the facts of the case.
