The police in Middle Franconia * reported in a press release how the accident came about.
At around 7.30 p.m., the police in Weißenburg were informed that strangers were supposed to be unauthorized on company premises in a district of Burgsalach.
Once there, the officers noticed that several people in two vehicles were escaping from a forest path.
One of them was a Mercedes SUV and the other a dark van.
When the vehicles parted, the van escaped.
A police helicopter managed to track the Mercedes SUV.

As a result, two patrol vehicles dropped back and drove after the fleeing SUV several hundred meters away, the police report said.
At the southern exit of Waizenhofen, the driver of the Mercedes turned sharply right and suddenly crashed into a tree.
The driver and co-driver tried to flee, but were arrested by the police on site.
In the vehicle, the officers found a seriously injured woman who died of her injuries at the scene of the accident.
An autopsy revealed that the 40-year-old was not wearing seat belts and that she suffered fatal injuries in the impact of the vehicle.
The 50-year-old driver was uninjured, the 40-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The police are investigating the unauthorized entry into the company premises near Burgsalach and the still volatile dark van.
