Android smartphones crashed

This Tuesday, users encountered difficulties opening certain applications such as Gmail and Google Maps due to an issue affecting Google Webview.


What is this mysterious blackout that affected Android phones on Tuesday?

Many users have complained that they no longer have access to certain features of their smartphones.

Applications, mainly those from Google like Gmail, Google Maps or Google Pay but also Deezer, Amazon and TikTok struggled to launch or closed unexpectedly.

In question, a failure which affected the night of Monday to Tuesday the Android Webview system which makes it possible to display the Web contents in the Android applications.

Google Webview questioned

This is what Samsung explained on Twitter indicating that

"the phenomenon is known"

to their services.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience suffered which was caused by a problem related to Google Webview"

, explained the manufacturer of phones which have the Android operating system.

He recommended a series of manipulations intended to restore the functioning of the impacted applications.

Users were prompted to update the “Android System WebView” app and the “Chrome” browser app.

This is also what explained the Twitter account of Gmail specifying, in the middle of the day, that

"the concern should now be solved"
