On the occasion of the International Poetry Festival, the Al Shahba Poetry Forum was launched in Aleppo

Al-Shahba Poetry Forum, with the participation of more than 25 poets from the city’s inhabitants, was launched in the Arab Cultural Center in the Aziziyah neighborhood in Aleppo today, to celebrate the March holidays and on the occasion of the International Poetry Day.

On the forum held by the Culture Directorate in cooperation with the Writers' Union branch in Aleppo, Jaber Al-Sajour, Director of Culture in the governorate, spoke about this event, which includes a group of prominent poets who have important poetic contributions, pointing out that the forum will be held periodically in the coming years, as Aleppo is a city of birth in art. Poetry, literature, science ... and the literary, intellectual and cultural movement is rooted in it and has a presence locally and in the Arab world.

Farouk Salim, a member of the Executive Office of the Writers Union, emphasized that we need poetry as it deals with our deep emotions and with our visions for the future, and through it we restore the balance of ourselves, stressing the importance of celebrating World Poetry Day because it is like a torch of light that foretells a better tomorrow.

SANA's correspondence monitored the views of some of the poets participating in the three-day forum, where the poet and writer Wafaa Sharbaji emphasized the importance of these forums as they embrace writers and poets, which creates a distinct literary atmosphere for the role of the word in all fields, while the poet Abdul Hamid Melhem pointed out the contribution of literary forums in restoring spirit and life. To the city of Aleppo, especially after the stormy events and tragedies that occurred in this city during the war.

Poet Ibtihal Maarawi pointed out the important role of culture and literature, especially at the present time Aleppo is literally recovering.

The writer Muhammad Qabawah pointed out that the two cultural directors always strive to advance the cultural scene so that it befits the city of Aleppo through these forums that include poetry knights.
