Thalmässing - After a car chase, a 40-year-old woman was killed in a car accident in Central Franconia.

The police announced on Tuesday (March 23) that witnesses had reported that several people were staying on company premises near Burgsalach (Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district) without permission.

The patrol officers then saw two cars drive away from the company premises.

The investigators suspect, according to a spokesman, that the occupants of the two cars on the company premises wanted to commit a theft.

One car escaped the police on Monday evening (March 22nd).

The other was followed by several patrol cars and a police helicopter.

In Waizenhofen, a district of Thalmässing (district of Roth), the fugitive car then crashed into a tree.

According to the police, the 50-year-old driver was uninjured, and the 40-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The woman who was sitting in the back of the car died at the scene of the accident.
