The Superior Council of the Magistracy (CSM) proposed a demotion sanction on Wednesday against a former deputy prosecutor of the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) suspected of sexual harassment, according to information from the guarantor body independence of the judiciary.

The CSM's demotion notice (third most severe sanction before automatic retirement and dismissal) is now in the hands of the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti.
The magistrate in question is suspected of sexual harassment against a clerk and a magistrate, according to Mediapart.
A judicial investigation was opened last September for “
moral harassment at work and sexual harassment
” after the complaint of a clerk against this former deputy prosecutor of the PNF.
The complainant, then 34 years old, accused the deputy prosecutor of "
bullying and inappropriate remarks

According to the PNF, Jean-François Bohnert, who arrived at the head of the institution in early October 2019, was warned of the actions of the deputy prosecutor in November of the same year and had alerted the general prosecutor's office in December.
The magistrate in question now practices at the judicial court of Versailles.
Contacted by AFP, the lawyer for the deputy prosecutor, Me Jean-Yves Le Borgne, did not wish to react.
