After the escalation of coronavirus cases, with 9,405 new infections confirmed on Tuesday, the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, raised this Wednesday that if they continue to increase, "the circulation of people by time slots must be reduced" .

"If there is an increase in cases, the important thing is to take measures as early as possible in the minimum geographical measure,

reducing the movement of people by time slots, not aiming for confinement,

" explained the official about the restrictions that the Government evaluates before the arrival of a second wave.

In dialogue with radio

La Red

, Vizzotti remarked: "We have been in

a situation of alert

for weeks, not only with the situation in Argentina but with neighboring countries and the increase in some jurisdictions that are already experiencing a comparative increase in relation to the last weeks".

"Yesterday (for Tuesday) must be evaluated in context. A single day is not a trend. You have to take the weekly average but the provinces with the highest population density have had a significant increase in cases," he said.

Regarding the situation in the rest of the country, he said that "there are provinces that have had a significant increase, we have to see how they evolve," so he asked "to strengthen care to delay the increase in cases as long as we can while we vaccinate."

Another of the Government's measures is to tighten border controls and the circulation of new strains.

Before the weekend, President Alberto Fernández will authorize new restrictions on travel to and from abroad.

There are more than 27,000 Argentines abroad, according to official data.

In this regard, Vizzoti pointed out that "to date we do not have predominant circulation in any of the new variants" and that "foreign travel reservations have dropped by 50%."

But, in any case, he insisted on not leaving the country:

"Tourism to countries where new strains circulate is not a good idea."

For those citizens who arrive from abroad, at a time when the death of a Cordovan by the British strain that had traveled to Mexico was known, he explained that "in principle the recommendation is to quarantine at home" and that "at this time there is no isolation in hotels is being considered. "

On the other hand, the successor of Ginés González García referred to the vaccination campaign: "We are strengthening it. There are possibilities of increasing the number of vaccinated per day as a more important number of vaccines arrive."

Although he clarified that so far "there is no information" about a new airline flight in search of more doses, he stressed that those that arrive will have as "priority" those over 70 years of age.

On that risk group, he slipped:

"We aim for them to be vaccinated by the end of April."

Despite the shortage of vaccines in the country, Vizzotti stressed that "Argentina is one of the countries that receives doses constantly, we already have almost 5 million."

In this regard, he added: "Progress is being made in a sustained manner and the vaccines will continue to arrive. Those who were vaccinated should continue to take care of themselves. And those who are waiting their turn also to delay the increase in cases."

The minister also revealed that they evaluate the extension of vaccination between the first and second doses: "It is a possibility, we analyzed it. The two doses

will be

applied, but

the second dose can be deferred, prioritizing vaccinating more with the first,

knowing that the first it is very important and that the second one adds a bit of effectiveness and duration of immunity ".

News in development.
