The trial against the now 63-year-old Serb who killed his neighbor in Schwabach in Central Franconia last year has now come to an end in Nuremberg *.
The Nuremberg district court has now sentenced the man to seven years' imprisonment and to a detention center.
The man was an alcoholic and was very drunk in the act, said a court spokesman after the hearing.
The motive ultimately remained unclear even during the proceedings.
According to the Chamber, the alcohol had clouded the senses of the Serb, who has lived in Germany for decades, on the evening of the crime.
In July of last year in Schwabach near Nuremberg, he drank together with his partner and her neighbor in the gazebo and played dice games.

Then he went to his partner's apartment, where he was arrested by the police without resistance.
A test showed a blood alcohol content of 2.2 per mille.
On the first day of the trial, the defendant had testified through his lawyer that he could not explain how the crime had come about.
