A wide demand by citizens for the products of the General Oil Company in Hama, especially cotton seed oil and soap, due to the high quality and competitive prices.
The general manager of the company, Eng. Abdul Majeed Qalfeh, explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that this demand is due to the increase in demand for vegetable oil in conjunction with the large increase in its price and the lack of quantities, so that the alternative oils are produced in the company that manufactures products that compete in terms of price and specification, noting that its products are less than prices. The oils present in the market are between 40 and 50 percent, pointing out that the company markets its products to Syria for trade, in addition to the military social establishment and the halls of the Ministry of Industry. It also sells directly in the company’s hall to citizens, at a rate of only two liters per citizen.
He added that the company achieved profits of 465 million pounds from the beginning of this year until last February resulting from sales of about 849 million pounds, which included 19 tons of cotton seed oil and 937 tons of unpeeled bread and one ton of soap, while 700 tons of cotton seeds were squeezed, resulting in 53 tons of cotton oil. Refined and 567 tons peeled cake.
For his part, Eng. Maher Baraki, the technical director of the company, indicated that the company is importing all the quantities of cotton seeds available in the ginns, which amounted to 2500 tons during the current season, indicating the company's endeavor to increase its production capacity by setting up a new line of shaving services with a production capacity of 100 tons per day in addition to another line. Existing within the company with a capacity of 30 tons per day in addition to announcing the implementation of an automatic filling line for all packages of 1 and 5 liters and metal sheets weighing 8 kg and 16 kg, in the framework of providing homemade materials and dispensing with import under the coercive measures imposed on our country.
In turn, Abdul Basit Abdel-Gawad, the Commercial Director, confirmed that the company is working to secure the requests of employees in companies and public sector institutions from the company's products, according to nominal lists prepared for this matter in addition to meeting the requests of workers in various popular organizations and professional unions.
A number of citizens pointed out the importance of the company's effective and major role in controlling prices in the market by offering cotton oil with its high quality and low prices compared to the prices of other oils, at a rate up to double, in light of the high prices of vegetable oils to record levels during the recent period.
