According to the resolutions of the Corona summit, German citizens should not travel at home or abroad over Easter.

That causes horror in the travel industry.

Berlin - Angela Merkel and the country leaders have sent Germany into a tough lockdown over Easter so that the corona virus does not spread further unchecked in Germany.

There is an "extended rest period" over the holidays.

#WeBleibenZuHause is the motto from April 1st to 5th.

Everyone who was looking forward to a vacation should have thrown a spanner in the works.

Because the federal and state governments appeal to everyone, especially over Easter, to refrain from travel that is not absolutely necessary.

Since hotels in Germany are still not allowed to accommodate tourists, this has almost taken care of itself for Germany.

Corona lockdown Easter 2021: The tourism industry is taking a hard line with politics

The local holiday regions from the Alps to the Baltic Sea will be hit hard by the decisions.

The German Tourism Association (DTV) finds clear words.

"Once again, the federal and state governments are leaving Germany tourism out in the rain without any prospects," said DTV Managing Director Norbert Kunz.

The industry with almost three million employees has been promised a strategy on when and under what conditions safe travel is possible again.

“Nothing of that can be seen far and wide.

No plan, no strategy, not even a small signal for safe travel in your own federal state. ”Many companies are now finally with their backs to the wall.

The association's deputy chief executive, Dirk Dunkelberg, criticizes the fact that even options such as low-contact vacation in holiday apartments and mobile homes are completely ignored.

He expressed a lack of understanding that trips to the Mediterranean are possible, but renting holiday apartments in the Black Forest, for example, remains prohibited.

“You can't really justify that any more,” says Dunkelberg.

Coronavirus: Airlines should test vacationers before returning

But trips abroad are also on the federal government's red list.

These are still made almost impossible for vacationers due to the quarantine obligation.

Anyone entering from foreign risk areas must complete a digital entry registration.

The quarantine obligation exists for a period of at least ten days after return.

The quarantine can only be ended prematurely in the event of a negative corona test, which was taken at the earliest five days after entry.

In the future, airlines should test all holiday returnees for the corona virus before they leave for Germany, even if they come from non-risk areas, a current example is Mallorca.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) wants to establish the new test obligation within a few days by regulation.

According to reports, the airlines and organizers will use local service providers.

Corona lockdown Easter 2021: Airlines see measures as a temporary exception

The Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL) sees the concession, the general test obligation for all returnees in Germany, a temporary exception in the current acute phase of the pandemic.

The BDL managing director Matthias von Randow made it clear: "After the planned Easter lockdown, we should come back to a regulation that is based on the actual infection process." In principle, the distinction between risk and non-risk areas has proven itself.
