So that another Schongau apprenticeship fair does not fall into the water because of Corona, the SAM has now become the Schongau apprenticeship market.

Schoolchildren can find out more online.

Schongau - "Risk of contagion: job fairs and Weilheim car show canceled" - that was the headline of the Schongauer Nachrichten a little over a year ago.

Immediately after the first Corona case in the Weilheim-Schongau district became known, the then fourth Schongau training fair in the Lechsporthalle was canceled.

"In November 2020 we started planning in the hope of a presence fair, and we already had a lot of registrations," explains Alexander Berndt from the Birkländer agency Ostenrieder Design & Marketing.

So that everything does not fall into the water again, they looked for an effective and easy-to-use solution and decided to combine everything online and contactless from the outset this year.

The website www.schongauer-ausbildungsmarkt.de has been available since the beginning of March, and not just for a few days, but into autumn.

"This is unique", describes Berndt.

The information platform has now been created with the support of the Schongau Business Information Group and the Weilheim-Schongau District Office.

The use is free of charge for future trainees, and half of the usual stand fees were due for the participating companies.

A large amount of information about the various professional fields on offer and about local companies from the sectors of industry, craft, trade, gastronomy / hotel and health as well as the public and social sectors are available for schoolchildren and graduates in a clearly structured manner.

Many companies also made videos available, there is information on what a successful application could look like and, of course, direct contact with the training company.

Numerous companies are represented on the platform

The participating companies come mainly from the Weilheim-Schongau district, but also from the neighboring districts of Landsberg, Ostallgäu, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In addition to the large industrial companies - from Aerotech, ept, Hirschvogel, Hoerbiger, UPM, Hochland, Eirenschmalz and Roche to Zarges - there are also numerous craft businesses such as butchery Boneberger, glass and window construction Huber, plumber Hein or Elektro Schöffmann.

Commercial professions that are trained in banks, with health insurance companies or in car dealerships can be accessed as well as information on civil servants' careers, for example through a dual course of study at the district office or training at customs.

"Particularly important, and since the beginning of the corona pandemic with a long-deserved, higher appreciation: Nursing professions that are trained in abundance in Schongau and the surrounding area," says a press release on the new training platform.

A face-to-face event is of course more charming, but everyone who had already registered for the new training fair took advantage of the training market - except for the police, as Berndt regrets.

Some were added afterwards, and companies can also be added, but not an infinite number, "contrary to what one thinks from the Internet, space is also limited here".

The website should be available to schoolchildren and companies by autumn

The website of the Schongau apprenticeship market should be available in any case by autumn, and maybe even longer.

"Of course we would like to organize another training fair in Schongau, but the online training market could then also be an addition," says Alexander Berndt, looking to the future.

What you definitely didn't want to do without: the competition.

The laughing "SAMiley" is built into many of the information pages.

Whoever finds them all on the homepage, counts and takes part, has the chance to win an iPad as the main prize.
