The European Union today (Wednesday) tightened restrictions on exports of corona vaccines outside the bloc, which include the right to block shipments to countries with higher vaccine rates, such as the UK, or those that do not share the vaccines they produce.

The move is likely to exacerbate tensions with London, which has warned Brussels against "vaccine nationalism".

The bloc's trade commissioner, Vladis Dombrowski, said the union was not working against a specific country, but that under the emerging regulations Britain would be one of those the union would try to reach an agreement with.

In addition to the kingdom, which withdrew from the EU at the beginning of the year, Israel, Norway and Switzerland were also added to the list of countries that all exports of vaccines from European products require special approval.

The tight supervision is expected to have the greatest impact on the export of Astraznica and Oxford vaccines, which do not meet the company's supply commitment.

Belgium announced another partial closure this week in which non-essential educational institutions and businesses will not operate.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has canceled a plan to impose a blockade on Easter only one day after the restrictions were announced.

Merkel happened to be on the "mistake" program and said she was taking "full responsibility" for turning the horseshoe she made.
